Why on the board

Verified live 2026-09-22. Early MCP-native maker infra with public packages — fits this board’s new-only bar.

What it is

Kody (kody.codes) is personal software-factory infra for builders who want owned automations instead of renting another chat app. Verified from their docs (2026-09-22): you keep using Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, Copilot, Grok, or any MCP host; connect via https://kody.codes/mcp with OAuth. Kody supplies durable memory, secrets the agent cannot read back, packages (saved code with exports/jobs/webhooks), integrations, and an inbox — not a competing assistant UI. Fair Source licensing is described on their “what is Kody” doc (read/fork/self-host; Apache 2.0 after two years per their text). Public packages and machine-readable discovery files (MCP server card, api-catalog, agent-skills) are linked from the homepage.

Who it’s for

Makers who already live in an MCP host and want jobs that keep running when the laptop sleeps — digests, watchers, chore bots — with credentials that never land in chat. Not for people shopping “another chatbot.” If you only need one Zapier-style zap, a lighter automation tool may ship faster.

Why we listed it

Early MCP-native maker infra with public packages and clear docs; live site verified 2026-09-22. Fits the new-only board and the “agents need a home” theme without being a mature household brand.

Caveats

You’re trusting a cloud runtime with secrets substitution and package execution — read their security model before production keys. Fair Source ≠ OSI-approved FOSS until the conversion clock; check the exact terms if legal cares. We have not dogfooded a multi-host memory migration. Pricing pages change — confirm before you depend on a free tier assumption.
